COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Indigenous art traditions are an excellent way for young children to develop perception and thinking skills as well as creative self-expression. This course empowers students to understand the children’s art as hundred languages and art as a mode of inquiry. The student will also explore a relational materialist perspective to think away from the human centric notions of understanding the world. This process will support student to weave their pedagogical concerns into the early childhood curriculum including indoor and outdoor activities. The students will learn how to pay attention to children’s meaning making process while engaging art making as well as navigating their pedagogy while thinking with Indigenous artists/ artistic inquiry.
