Observing and recording are considered fundamental in every quality childcare practice. Variety of observation and recording techniques will be discussed and practiced throughout this course. Students will begin to support and extend children’s interest and play through pedagogical narrations and invitations to inquiry. Professional writing skills are essential for Early Childhood Educators to become pedagogical leaders in the childcare settings. In this course, the students will use pedagogical narrations to make children’s voice and their own intentions visible and tangible. Students will arrange centre visits for the observation portion of this course and will be required to fulfill minimum hours of observation at a licensed childcare facility.
